Practice Exams User Guide

Introduction

ExSim-Max® practice exams are designed to simulate the complete exam experience, including topics covered, question types, question difficulty, and time allowed. With ExSim-Max's accurate and detailed explanations, you don't just learn the answer, you actually learn the technologies covered.

The Boson Exam Environment® (BEE®) is a software application that is used by Boson Software to deliver the ExSim-Max practice exams in an exam simulation environment. The BEE allows you to access multiple exams and multiple concurrent sessions for a given exam.

More About ExSim-Max Practice Exams

ExSim-Max practice exams are designed to simulate the complete exam experience, including topics covered, question types, question difficulty, and time allowed. Plus, the ExSim-Max practice exams go beyond simulating the question type and difficulty of the live exams—they also include detailed explanations and references for each question. You not only learn the correct answer for each question, you learn why that answer is correct and why the other answers are incorrect, and you learn the technologies and concepts covered in the exam.

ExSim-Max utilizes the Boson Exam Environment (BEE), a web-based exam delivery platform. The BEE allows you to:

  • easily navigate through questions and references.
  • learn the content by using the unique testing mode and reports.
  • organize multiple exams and demos in one easy-to-use environment.

Exam features and settings are covered in detail in the preceding sections in this document.

ExSim-Max practice exams can be accessed anywhere you have an Internet connection through your browser or ExSim-Max can be installed as a Progressive Web App (PWA). Installing ExSim-Max as an app allows for faster loading and a better experience than simply using it through your browser.

Getting the Most From Boson ExSim-Max

When preparing for your certification exam, you can use ExSim-Max practice exams to help you assess your readiness and focus your study time by identifying any gaps in your knowledge.

To ensure that you learn the material, and not just memorize the questions, we recommend following the steps below:

  1. Log in or sign up.
  2. On the ExSim-Max Home page, select Start a new exam.
  3. On the My Exams page, find the purchased product, and click the exam title.
  4. In the window, click Load Exam.
  5. In the Exam Bank panel, select the exam and mode of your choosing, such as Exam A and Study Mode.
  6. In the Current Exam Settings panel, click Modify Settings, ensure that the Include Show Answer button option is checked, and then click X to close the Exam Settings.
  7. Click Begin Exam. As you take the exam, try not to look at the explanations; move from question to question as you would in a live exam.
  8. When you complete the exam, click Grade Exam to view your score report, where you can identify your strengths and weaknesses.
  9. Review all of the questions and detailed explanations included in the exam. The explanations and references will cover nuances that can help you better understand the material.
  10. Use the references supplied and, at a minimum, study the topics that you feel will aid you in improving your chances of passing the live exam.
  11. When you think you are ready to take the next step, return to the Exam Bank panel by navigating to the My Exams page, which can be accessed from the Menu button. Select a different version of the exam, such as Exam B, accept the default Study Mode in Exam Settings, and repeat steps 6 through 9.
  12. If you do not pass Exam B, repeat steps 7 through 10 and retake exams A and B. You should wait to take Exam C until you have become very familiar with the topics and concepts covered in Exams A and B.
  13. If you do pass Exams A and B, you can take a random exam prior to taking Exam C to increase your knowledge of the required material.
  14. Finally, take Exam C in Simulation Mode to evaluate your readiness to take the live exam.

When you have studied the topics and concepts contained in the references and explanations and you can pass all of the practice exams in the product, you should be ready for the live exam.

Supported Question Types

Each ExSim-Max practice exam includes multiple types of questions so that it can accurately simulate the live exam environment. Depending on the exam you choose, the exam vendor, and the exam author, you might see any, all, or a combination of the question types listed below. ExSim-Max practice exams are written to mirror the live exam, so the question types you see in an ExSim-Max exam are the ones you will likely encounter during the live exam. To learn more about these question types, see Supported Question Types.
